  1. Choose your Oil – There are many types of oil that will work well for lubricate the hinges of your sunglasses. Baby oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, and sunflower oil will all work just fine. Try to choose a mostly clear oil for this process. You don't need to spend money on a special glasses hinge oil, it's basically the same thing except it will cost you a lot more. 
  2. Oil Away – Get a cotton ball, and absorb a couple drops of oil into it. Then, open the hinges of your sunglasses, and squeeze the cotton ball so that a drop of oil falls into the hinge. Gently open and close the hinge until the oil distributes throughout the entire joint. Repeat on the other side.
  3. Clean up – Using a fresh, new cotton ball, absorb any excess oil from the hinge. Finally, clean the lenses of the sunglasses.
